Seed Head Fly Video

Roger Batt points to a Spotted Knapweed flower and asks "Is this a fly here?" Bryan Dallolio looks and says the name of this seed head fly is Urophora quadrifasciata. Roger explains that this is a biological control agent for Spotted Knapweed. Bryan continues to explain that the fly will lay eggs on the seed head and the grub will bore inside and devour the seeds that are underneath the petals on the Spotted Knapweed.
