On July 8 2005, Bryan Dallolio, Ada County Noxious Weed Control, found this patch of Scotch Thistle along the Boise River Greenbelt. He notes that they represent a serious problem. Number one, they are unpleasant and they are out here in the middle of the bikepath. Number two, we have to be really careful about how these plants are controlled. This is kind of a riparian area. The Boise River is in the background. He explains that this is the kind of place where the county is likely to come in and cut and bag these noxious weeds, and haul them up to the landfill.
Note that there are several video "hot spots" available which provide a lot more detailed information.
