| Paul Brusven notes that there are three main areas of public service the Biocontrol Center focuses on. One of these is "education" to private land owners and federal agencies that are dealing with weeds related to biocontrol agents and how they interact with the plant. The biocontrol is "one tool in the toolbox" that can be used for controlling noxious weeds. A second service is the "research" portion. They try to obtain biocontrol agents when they are first released in the United States that can be used in this area. They work closely with a lot of the weed scientists and entomologists who are working in biocontrol. This is a big part of what they do at the Biocontrol Center. Paul notes that a third educational service they provide are "technical transfer workshops." Participants get an opportunity to learn about noxious weeds and also the biocontrols that will attack and control these weeds. Back to Panorama
